The Human Rights Journalists is an independent, nonprofit organization that defends human rights and promotes press freedom in Somalia. HRJ builds the capacity of journalists to actively participate and report human rights violations in Somalia.
This organization was established in December 2017 by a group of human rights-minded journalists who developed a sense of activism amidst a deteriorating context and glaring human rights violations in Somalia.
We research, monitor and document and report human rights violations in Somalia, as well as abuses of press freedom in Somalia. We offer legal support to journalists who are in need of these services because of their work.
We train journalists on various thematic issues, we enhance their competence and capacities on human rights and good governance.
